White Rock Lake's Bath House carries a Dallas story from swimming to the arts
The former lakeside recreation building now houses galleries and performance spaces, with Northcliff Drive providing the listed approach.

The Bath House Cultural Center's name comes from a previous chapter of life at White Rock Lake. Built in 1930 as a place serving swimmers, the Art Deco structure closed after lake swimming was prohibited in 1953 and reopened as a cultural center in 1981.
The city's facility account identifies galleries, a black-box theater, an indoor-outdoor lake-level stage and classroom spaces within the adapted building. That change of use makes the architecture part of an art visit: the setting carries a recreational history alongside the work now exhibited or performed there.
The center is at 521 East Lawther Drive, with current public hours Tuesday–Saturday, noon–6 p.m., and longer opening on performance nights. Building entry is free, but some events have tickets or admission charges. The city's directions say to approach through Northcliff Drive from Buckner Boulevard because through access along East Lawther Drive is blocked.
Check the calendar for the exhibition or performance you want, then allow time to notice the relationship between the building and the lake. A daytime gallery visit and an evening show offer different experiences of the same place. Reusing a familiar building can keep it part of neighborhood life while changing the reasons people gather there.
